This animation was developed for A.D.A.M. to depict a few surgical steps during a total knee replacement. A cutting block is used so that the resulting cuts will be precise. Once the block is securely mounted, five cuts are made to resurface the femur for device placement. The device is shown schematically placed on the resurfaced bones and the knee bends through a range of motion. Finally, the device zooms up close to show off the individual components.
